Terms & Conditions

For programmes including in person sessions.

Terms & Conditions

This is the boring bit. However, it is for your benefit and important that you read through this document, and confirm that you have read it, then we can get on to the good stuff.

These Terms and Conditions are in place for the safety and welfare of our clients and their dogs. We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will come into effect immediately.

Please note that payment for services implies full agreement with these Terms and Conditions.

Training and Handling Methods
The training techniques used by The Fairydogmother are based on the principles of positive reinforcement and science led modern methods and, as such, are kind, fair and reward based. Harsh handling of dogs, physical force and the use of punitive methods/punishment or equipment designed to be aversive will not be allowed.

The Fairydogmother is a member the Kennel Club KCAI Scheme, IABTC, the Guild of Dog Trainers and the Pet Professional Guild and follow their code of ethics.

The Fairydogmother does not allow the use of any equipment that can causes pain discomfort or fear. This includes choke chains, pinch collars, shock collars, citronella collars, rattle cans, spray bottles, compressed air canisters or any other device or method that can potentially cause harm, pain, suffering or fear to a dog.

Termination clause: Any clients who continues to use such methods despite being asked not to do so will be asked to leave the session or the entire training programme with no refund being given.

Cancellations and refunds

Refunds will not be given once you have registered and paid as you will have immediate access to the full online courses that support your in person training, I am committed to helping you and your dog and I want clients to have that same commitment.

All in person appointments must be paid in advance. Until payment has been received the booking has not be confirmed. By paying for a programme you are deemed to have read and understood these terms and conditions.

Confirmation and appointment  will be sent via email. This may go into your junk/spam folder. Checking there is the client’s responsibility. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they arrive at the right venue at the correct time or be available for a Zoom video call.

In this programme most in person training will be done in or near my training venue in Yeadon, at your home or in another suitable location. If your training requires me to visit you this may incurr an additional cost depending where you live. I do try my best not to charge for travelling wherever possible as you should be paying for training not for someone to drive but if you live more than 10 miles from my location (Near Leeds Bradford Airport) in some instances there may be an additional charge for travelling if your training requires me to visit you at home. If you are visiting me obviously this doesn’t apply and I will help clients no matter where they live, I have clients from all over.

Private Training and Behaviour Consultations

Sessions sessions will usually take place in my locality unless there is a specific need for it to be elsewhere.

Payment for private training sessions and behavioural consultations is for the number of sessions stated. Payment must be made to secure the appointments and paid in full before training commences. It is your responsibility to book your appointments; you will have access to book your appointments in my online appointment calendar. We will endeavour to make sure we send out a reminder for you to book your training sessions if you have failed to book but it is your responsibility to book your appointments – please remember that you have one dog trainer to contact and we have many clients to keep track of at any one time.

Allergies or intolerances
If your dog has any known allergies or intolerances to certain foods or has any other special needs, it is your responsibility to bring this to my attention prior to the start of the session, and provide appropriate alternative treats etc.

Training programmes and information given is confidential between The Fairydogmother and client.

Use of likeness

I may share your dog’s story or progress as a case study without using names or anything identifiable to you or your dog.

The Fairydogmother gives clients lifetime access to protected areas on the website along with personal training plans and verbal advice. These must not be shared – partly because the advice given for your dog may be highly unsuitable for someone else’s dog and may be detrimental to their wellbeing and safety.

Client only closed Facebook groups and forums; What is dicussed in the groups stays in the groups to maintain these as safe spaces for clients to share and discuss their struggles, problems and successes.

Intellectual Property

The Fairydogmother and The Happy Dog Project are registered trademarks. Our website and content including but not limited to design, copy, photographs, videos and graphics are protected by copyright and intellectual property rights.

They must not be copied or redistributed in part or whole.

Photographs and Recordings

Photographs and/or recordings may be taken by the The Fairydogmother during training for educational and promotional purposes. If you do not wish for photographs of you and/ or your dog to be used or shared, please let us know. Any verbal or written feedback (e.g. by email or reviews) may be used for marketing purposes (for example, posted on the website). Only the first name of the person will be used as identification. If you are not happy for us to use your feedback in this way, please let us know. Photography and videography of sessions or parts of sessions is NOT permitted, without my permission.

Children are very welcome to attend training sessions, with appropriate adult supervision. It is the responsibility of the supervising adult to ensure the children’s safety at all times.

Home visits
For home visits with dogs who are uncomfortable with strangers I may ask that your dog to be in another safe room, behind a child gate, muzzled or on lead when I first arrive (whichever is least stressful for your dog). I am happy to wait outside while you do this. I will advise you as to when (and how) it would be most appropriate to bring the dog into the room to be introduced to me.

If I am visiting your home and there is on-street parking which requires a visitor permit, please have a visitor permit ready for use when I arrive. If parking at your home (or other venue at which we have arranged to meet) requires payment, please could you kindly let me know in advance.

Health and Vaccination
All dogs and puppies should be suitably protected from the potential risk of disease, as well as being appropriately treated for internal and external parasites. Whether that is by vaccination, titre testing or using homeopathic nosodes, chemical or natural methods. It is the owner/handler’s responsibility to ensure that their dog is appropriately protected. The Fairydogmother accepts no responsibility for the potential or actual exposure of dogs to disease.

Please advise me in advance of the session if your dog has been in contact with another dog infected by a contagious disease or if they appear to be unwell (e.g. vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, runny nose etc). Depending on the issue, it may be advisable for the session to be re-arranged; either for your dog’s welfare or so I do not pass it on to my dogs or other client’s dogs.

Health and Safety

Any instances of accident or injury must be reported to The Fairydogmother at the time they occur.

Equipment and Clothing

Dog training involves practical handling and may be outdoors so appropriate weather appropriate shoes and clothing is a must.

Flexi leads (extending leads) are not generally permitted in training sessions in order to avoid injury, long training lines generally workmuch better.

I make every effort to ensure the safety of both clients and dogs during One to One sessions and make every effort to provide a safe and secure environment for training. Sometimes this may be in public spaces with other members of the public and their dogs and children. Clients dogs and their behaviour remains entirely the client’s responsibility at all times, whether or not in the presence of the trainer/behaviourist.

The Fairydogmother accepts no responsibility for injury, illness, loss, damage or accident to you, your dog, any spectator, other persons or property. Dog training can be a physical activity and handlers are reminded to take due care and attention to their, their dog’s and other people’s safety.

Dogs however are animals and there can be risks associated with this such as being knocked over or bitten. Any client who participates in training does so at their own risk. The Fairydogmother does not take responsibility for any loss, damage or injury to any animals or persons who attend training. The Fairydogmother does also not take responsibility for any loss, injury or damage to client’s property while undergoing any training or service. It is the client’s responsibility to make any person who accompanies them to the session(s), or takes their place, aware that they are also there at their own risk.

Animals can act unpredictably, causing injury to people and other animals. Precautions may be advised and should be adhered to including keeping the dog on a lead, using a muzzle in some circumstances and making others aware of any aggression. Owners are responsible for their animal’s behaviour at all time and correct insurance should be found to cover the pet for liability in the event damage or injury be done to property or to a third party.

The Fairydogmother has business insurance cover the services of dog training, behavioural training, classes and events.

Cancellations and refunds

Refunds will not be given once you have registered and paid  as you will have immediate access to the full online courses that support our in person training, I am committed to helping you and your dog and I want clients to have that same commitment.

Any refunds given are at the discretion of The Fairydogmother and are considered on an individual basis. All refunds incur a £25 administration fee.

Non-attendance at a training session will result in the loss of the session. Cancelling a scheduled appointment will result in the loss of the session unless 48 hours’ notice is given prior to the session. This may be wavered at the discretion of The Fairydogmother.

In the event that The Fairydogmother has to postpone, change the time, date or venue of an appointment in order to provide the best service for you and your dog or where it is absolutely necessary for reasons beyond our control such as adverse weather, illness, emergency, orgovernment guidelines we will reschedule your session to another mutually convenient time as soon as possible.

If The Fairydogmother arrives at the appointment and the client is not at the arranged address every effort will be made to make contact with the client. If the client cannot be reached the client will not receive a refund and will lose the payment for that session.

Should any of your in person training be affected by any newly introduced tighter Government restrictions any remaining sessions will be put on hold until such a time as we can re-commence. I will not give refunds as my ultimate aim is always to help you continue and succeed no matter how long it takes and I will support you during this time as much as possible via telephone or video call – if this happens please as for help if you need it and keep in touch. In some cases your training sessions may be transferred to online via zoom as some things are just as effectively taught via video.

I have read and understood the Terms & Conditions Document above
